Center’s Introductory Video
By the grace and empowerment of God, Christians actively participate in the Holy Spirit’s life transforming process, until Christ is formed in us (2 Pet.1:3-11; Gal.4:19), for the glory of God, abundance of our own lives and the edification of others.
Integrate spiritual formation studies, practices, and research into various levels of academic endeavors in the seminary, and integrate its understanding and practices into discipleship ministries in the Chinese American churches. Cultivate Christ-like character among the Chinese American pastors and church leaders and promote a culture that values Christian character in the churches.

Integrating spiritual formation with pastoral ministry
Establishing a firm foundation in spirituality and theology
(Watch introductory video)
We offer a variety of opportunities for spiritual practice, including retreats for students, pastors, coworkers, and alumni; retreats for master degree graduates; retreats for pastors and their spouses; monthly support groups for master degree graduates and coworkers; and one-on-one spiritual direction to help participants grow and be renewed in their faith journey.
SCFC offers free online workshops that introduce practical applications of spiritual formation through teaching and guided practices, helping nurture believers’ inner life
and integrate spiritual disciplines into everyday living.

The conference addresses the church’s need to integrate discipleship and spiritual formation. Through plenary sessions, workshops, and practices, it equips pastors and church leaders with practical resources to cultivate holistic spiritual growth and faithful discipleship within the church.
The Spiritual Formation training programs offer learning pathways at the Extension, Diploma, and Master’s levels. Integrating theological foundations with spiritual practices and lived application, the programs cultivate attentiveness to the guidance of the Holy Spirit and equip students to live out the character and life of Christ in both life and ministry. For details, please visit the SCFC website: Education – Academic Structure & Degrees.
Since the TEE courses are offered to the general public while the SFD is a Master degree program, it takes 6
units of the former to replace a 3-unit SFD course, provided that the contents are similar. However, the
Association of Theological Schools (ATS) accreditation allows only 2 transferred courses at the Master degree
level, i.e., 6 credits.
If you had taken two years of the SF courses that Pastor Mimi Yeh taught for the FiCF/TEE Certificate program,
they can replace the SF110 course offered in the SFD program. If you had taken the courses “Holistic Personal
Growth” taught by Dr. Anita Meng and “Biblical Foundations of Spiritual Formation” taught by Dr. Dora Wang in
the FiCF/TEE certificate program, they can replace either one of the two same courses in the SFD program, and
waive the other by taking a SFD elective course in its place.
Yes. All 10 SFD courses constitute the core (required) courses of the future MCS-SF degree program; therefore,
all credits are transferable.
No. You can apply directly to SFD or to take three courses as a “pre-student” status.
If you miss it for the first time, you can take it when the course is offered in the next round. However, based on
the course development and student triads/quartets for in-class and out of class spiritual practices, we
encourage you to follow the program if possible.
Yes.
Upcoming Spiritual Formation Workshop please see “Spiritual Practice” on this page.
If there are enough students in 2027, the program can be offered.
