Biography:

Rev. Samuel Liu, Ph.D., currently serves as President and Professor at China Evangelical  Seminary North America. He has devoted himself to theological education and pastoral ministry  over many years. His primary teaching areas include Biblical Studies, Old Testament Theology,  Biblical Languages, and Hermeneutics.

Dr. Liu’s academic expertise lies in Old Testament studies, Old Testament theology, Hebrew, and  hermeneutics. His research interests include the interpretation of Old Testament texts, theological  integration, and the application of biblical languages. He is committed to bridging rigorous  academic scholarships with the life and practice of the church. 

An ordained Lutheran pastor in the United States, Dr. Liu is a third-generation Christian raised in  Taiwan. He sensed God’s calling to full-time ministry during his high school and college years  and has since faithfully pursued that calling. 

He previously served for two years at Feng-En Lutheran Church in Taiwan before pursuing  advanced theological studies in the United States. During that time, he also pastored for three  and a half years at a Chinese Lutheran church in East Los Angeles. Since 2008, he has been  serving at China Evangelical Seminary North America. From 2014 to 2021, he returned to  Taiwan to serve as President and full-time faculty member at China Lutheran Seminary.
