Background: 

Founded in 1983, the Great Commission Church International (GCCI) is a bi-cultural and bilingual (Mandarin Chinese and English) church committed to building up the kingdom of God among the Chinese Americans community in the eastern suburb of Los Angeles. The combined average Sunday attendance in Hacienda Heights and Ontario campuses combined is around 900. The church currently has a Senior Pastor in charge of both English and Chinese congregations in two campuses, an English Ministry Pastor, eight zone pastors, and many cell group leaders.  

The children's ministry are for kids from 1st-6th grade. All the families from both the Chinese service and the English service will bring their children to Sunday school. There are estimated 100 kids that come to Sunday school every week. We are mainly looking for a Children's Ministry Director and head person to be in charge of the Hacienda Heights campus. 

General Children Ministry Responsibilities: 

• To provide sound, biblically-based preaching and teaching with a passion for God through spiritual and administrative leadership of the children ministry
• To lead, direct and supervise Sunday kids worship, Sunday school, events, and other programs
• To lead the children in sharing Christ’s love and the Gospel to our surrounding communities
• To effectively share ministry goals and communicate with the Chinese Ministry staff, pastoral staff and leaders
• Live by example, to shepherd, lead and equip the children ministry volunteers and kids to follow the GCCI mission statements

 Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years ministry experiences in children's, youth, EM or any education ministry 
• Strong organizational and leadership skills
• Desire to raise disciples and build leaders within the community
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills 
• S. Citizenship or valid legal status 

Preferences: 

• Has a Masters or Bachelor degree in Christian ministries or education
• Understanding of Chinese-American culture/customs

 Specific Responsibilities: 

• Working with the English Ministry, plan for kids worship, train and schedule volunteers to teach Sunday school, assist or direct AWANA on Friday nights. 
• Plan meetings and trainings for parents and church co-workers
• Train the older elementary school kids to take leadership roles such as worship leader or TA in classes
• Attend weekly church meetings
• Help connect our church to the local community of churches and Christian organizations. 
• Identify areas in need of change, with oneself and with others.
