John holds a Ph.D. of Educational Studies (Spiritual Formation) and a M.A. of Spiritual Formation and Soul Care from Talbot Theological Seminary, and a M.Div. from the China Graduate School of Theology. 

He served as a pastor at the Evangelical Free Church of Hong Kong Yan Fook Church for fifteen years and is currently a lecturer in Practical Theology, chaplain, spiritual director, and supervisor at the Hong Kong Bethel Bible Seminary.
